I had some short stories, poems and photographs to share ... and so here I am

Douceur du Crépuscule

This is another painting that lights up our flat, produced in 2003 by my partner. The English translation would be "The Sweetness of Dawn" or "Dawn's Sweetness".

It is perhaps a good time to show this; a new dawn is about to emerge in France, with the second round of a tight presidential race due on May the 6th. Will the country get its first ever woman president, the Socialist candidate Ségolène Royal, or will it end up with the Conservative Nicolas Sarkozy? The latest polls show it will be extremely close. Whatever the outcome, France is in for a big change. Both candidates are considered to be part of the "new political generation": they are younger, plain talkers, not steeped in pomp and ceremony. Both of them are promising a "firm break" with the past.

So, which name will be easily falling off our tongues in years to come? Which name will be sprinkled into our literature, media, psyche? What suspense!

Exciting days for your adopted country. At least the female contender is more pleasant to the eye than out Helen! (tut tut Kay - smack hand!)

That is our Helen - ooh - maybe I've inadvertently made a prophesy! ;)

CB, I always thought it unfair how papers and the like always used the worst photo of Helen Clark (NZ PM for those who don't know). There is such a handsome looking one of her on her website ... and they never use it. Still, you can't get away from the fact that on the telly, in real moving life, she never looks like she does in that website image. Age? Stress? Lack of sleep days? Bad hair days? Oh dear, it's tough at the top. :)

I'm rooting for the gal...no contest. So, it's way past St Patrick's Day-
does the colour green mean anything?

Hi LMN,
The green? Oh, I've decided to change the background colour every now and then, to reflect the fact that I am someone who never stays still. I hope it doesn't put off those who like to feel all cosy with a familiar brand. Experts say people don't like constant change, but ... What the heck, it'll be something expected here now. :) Just like my photo will probably change colours every now and then to reflect how I'm feeling! :)

Oh Shameless! I love the way you go on about that Helen what's her name's lovely photo on her website and then destroy her inadvertently through your questions! I have no idea what she looks like, but you haven't painted a pretty picture!
Meanwhile, who to vote for here! Well if I could I guess I'd for Sego too.

Just popping by to remind you and your readers about the GBA(s)FC #2, which kicks off May 1st over on my blog. Hope to see you there.

Sorry to post off-topic, but I'm American. Obviously we all find it amusing that you even have elections and leaders and a national song and stuff. So clearly my fiction contest is far more important.

V, yes, that was terrible of me! I apologise if she's reading this. Helen? Hello? Mrs PM? It was more about the papers always choosing the worst images of her. The poor thing. I think it would be great if France got its first ever woman president too!

and Maht,
Hi. Yes, thanks for the reminder. I will be entering, of course! And I urge everyone else to do so. It's great fun. We get great feedback. It's a nice way to spend an evening! :) And yes, I think your contest is far more important than the elections ... only because I'm not allowed to vote! :)

I wanted to come here and thank you for what you said about my entry -- and for the vote.

I know nothing about the elections in France. I'm too befuddled by our own American president.

Hi Beth, welcome, and thanks for your comment. I look forward to checking out your blog! :) Please feel free to stop by anytime.

Your painting is beatiful;)

My own U.S. Politics get my head spining on a regular basis.. I can't imagine trying to follow more then that.

I hope what outcome ya'll have best serves what you need!

A women presidant is a neat thought though.
