The Woman Who's Branching Out !
This plant, given to us a few years back by some Swiss friends, has really grown into a bit of a talking point. It sits on the coffee table in the lounge, so people can't help but notice the woman who's forever reaching towards the light. In case you're wondering - or sniggering - we definitely did nothing to make the plant grow like this! She will soon have to have an appropriate name, so any ideas would be very welcome. At the moment she's known here as "The Woman Who's Branching Out". She will probably also have to have a poem at some point. I'm going to work on it.

Her name is The Green Woman. What else? Wild Celts will tear you apart if you call her anything else... ;)
The Green Woman. Not bad. It has a ring to it. :-)
I couldn't sleep last night, so the post you made came to mind. ~ For some reason that was followed by the name ~ "The McGonagle". It has a nice ring to it and interesting reading in google. Of course after that there just has to be a little story attached, I have one in mind.. :)
I don't have one off the top of my head - but that is a very interesting plant!
She looks especially true with kindness!
Eric - Ohhh, I must go and check out that name. You have me full of intrigue! :-)
Aims - Yes, interesting is the word. It's been the focus of many a conversation! :-) Did you notice the belly button as well? What a riot!
Richard - True with kindness. Yes, all that and more! :-)
Matilda - after Matisse's bathers under the trees by the cool blue pool. (Or pot in this case.)
(Painting probably doesn't exist I just made that up.)
Great plant. Make a great wall mural in acrylic. Now I spend the next fifteen minutes trying to read all the book titles....
this tree sure looks amazing! very womanly, yes. maybe we should all write poems on it! what say?
Like Julie she reminds me of a Matisse, one of those tissue paper cut-outs he did. Or a Henry Moore sculpture.
She's a great plant:-)
I see you have a Zadie Smith on your shelf;-) (x 3)
Julie - Yes, I thought of Matisse. Im not sure about Matilda, though. For me that conjures up an image of Australia (Waltzing Matilda). :-) Sorry the book titles are out of focus. I know how frustrating that is when we get to glance over someone's shelves! :-)
Puresunshine - Oh, what a good idea! Yes, please, feel free to pen some verses on the plant. That would be fun. :-)
Lane - Yes, of course, Henry Moore's curvy sculptures. I also thought of a certain painting by Fernando Botero, but I can't remember the name. The woman is seated in a similar position. But yes, the plant is great, kind of like a miniature tree (Japanese style). Doesn't take much looking after either! :-) The Zadie book is On Beauty, which I haven't read yet. :-)
At least she has her legs crossed, like a proper lady. I think she deserves some kind of haughty name, like Mrs. Tonebridge. Something thouroughly English.
Seems to make perfect sense that it does resemble a woman, from which great beauty grows . . .
Does she really need a name? I am not sure she does, but I do think she needs a poem (or two).
I feel like this "woman" most of the time -- hands and mind in all directions, thinking of and doing many things at once.
Perhaps Green Goddess is a possibility? Fertile Myrtle? ha ha ha
Angelique
Billy - Yes, the legs crossed, like the Matisse images! :-) Tonebridge. Mmmmmmmm. I'm not sure I see something haughty, though. I'm thinking more wholesome and earthy. lol
Witnessing Am I - No name? Surely she deserves a wonderful appelation, David. lol. Please post your photo and poem! :-)
The Quoibler - Hands and minds in all directions! Yes, Angelique, that must be one of the lines in the poem! :-) Fertile Myrtle? Mmmmmm. We're getting closer.
She sure deserves a poem. She is beautiful. I will think for a name
She has a happy home,it is possible with a glimpse of reality her past lifes are now firmly earth bound. Her great sense-heart warming, cherishing others in every free breath. This may appear strange at first,Names:Divine or Divination,or VEDUAVOO?? The last name is American Indian Name for earth bound spirit! The place is in the Medicine Bow mountains outside Larmie,Wyoming...Americans spelling
VEDUAWOO....
Correction: Vedauwoo or Vedauvoo!
Well Seamus - I am terribly embarrassed and am here to apologize. A couple of days ago you asked if you could link to my blog and I answered that I had already gone ahead and linked to yours without asking.
Today I was letting my eye wander over my list of 'blogs I like' and I discovered that I had not actually linked to yours. I thought I had done so as I visit your blog everyday through my bookmarks.
Please accept my apologies and I swear I'm not as daft as I appear. You are now linked proudly on my site. (and have been in my mind since I was awarded one of your lovely lions).
Marja - Yes, the poem is on my "to do" list. She sure is something! :-)
Richard - Ooooo, yes, I like divine. And Vedauvoo! Even better. And I love the meaning behind it. It sounds great. This has gone to the top of the list!
Aims - That is so sweet of you. But there's really no need to apologise! Really. It's a great pleasure to have you visit and I am putting up your link straight away. :-)
Call her Flora. Bet her barks worse than her bite? sorry.
Jon - That's funny; someone else today suggested Flora. Not bad. And I'm SURE her bark is worse than her bite! I just need to keep watering. lol
Update FOR THE LOVELY LADY.
The Native Americans from this Area were mainly Arapaho,Comanche,Ute.
Medicine Bow mountains:hunting/ play ground; Excellent wood to make Bows which they believed to cure/treat illness. The Arapaho spelling "bit'ow".Other Tribes spelling Veduavoo.
Zexy Zadie?
Richard - Wow, really interesting stuff! It sound so perfect for this plant.
Leslie - Mmmmm. Will they think of Zadie Smith, though?
Of courze they will...
A botinist friend used to call all 'unclassified' plants
"skeeterincdumscardamneddifolia".
A bit long, but fun to say once you learn it :)
Curses! Zadie Smith does not belong on your shelf! AAAAGGGGGHHHHH!
Leslie - Haha. Can I get my tongue around it? Not yet. lol :-)
Jessica - It's funny because I haven't read it yet. It's a biggies and will need a long weekend. :-)

You've captured so much of it in your images, as you always do... my favorite smile as I scrolled down the way, was the pause for a cup of coffee partway through.
By late 1945, the RAAF had received or ordered about 500 P-51 Mustangs, for fighter/ground attack purposes. The Commonwealth Aircraft Corporation initially assembled US-made Mustangs, but later manufactured most of those used.

NAIL COURSESintermarriageAttempting to know when the raids will come is futile. The only answer is to always be in a position to take advantage of them rather than be crushed by them. Their objective is to drain your funds so don't let it happen. Dont over commit. Have funds earmarked for raid opportunities. In the meantime trade as though there is no EE raid coming. They win when they have us always concerned about the possibility.
