I had some short stories, poems and photographs to share ... and so here I am

My Suitcase Refuses To Open !

The one bad thing about a good holiday is knowing that at some point it will come to an end. I could've sat here on this cliff top on Santorini - one of the islands in Greece's Cyclades - forever.

I am back home. But, actually, that's OK too. Lyon has a different kind of beauty. It's just that I would love to be on holiday forever. Forget this nonsense about work and career. If only.

I took about 600 photos and could've taken hundreds more. Here are just a few glimpses. I will show more later in a video with music.

Does anyone recognise some of these places? We went to Mykonos, Naxos, Amorgos, Delos and Santorini. We relaxed. Did little. Read. Ate. Slept. Swam. Ate. Read. Slept. Did nothing. Luckily the Greek islands weren't affected by the wildfires sweeping across Greece! I also managed to get through four good books but didn't do an ounce of writing, which was how I planned it. Now, however, my fingers are aching, poised, ready to tap!

Good glad your fingers are itching to type and write cos your bloggy friends missed you. I recognised the windmills of Mykonos, I have a piccie from a different angle I think. I went about oh jeez, six years ago and had a great time, doing much the same thing, reading, eating, drinking, sleeping, reading... Oh btw I've adopted another friend for Endelyn. Right now he's having a massive bounce with the toy that was supposed to be for cuddling and calming him down!

Sounds like bliss, Shameless. It's what I've got planned for the first week in October (not sure which island yet) - a holiday devoid of any writing whatsoever. In fact, after I send the new book over to MNW, I won't be writing again for another couple of months, or blogging or anything remotely creative.

I believe that doing too much of a good thing can damage ones enthusiasm.

But I also believe in weeks of sun, sea, sand and... sitting on your arse with a cold beer in one hand and a good paperback in the other.

Very nice. Very Blue. Speaking of Greece, I watched 2 films by Theo Angelopoulos in the past 2 weeks. The clouds are surprisingly overcast and gray in the films, and he said he did that on purpose since Greece has this reputation of always being sunny.

I've enjoyed Greek food whenever I've had it but too much would make me fat, for sure. I could eat a whole bowl of olives, for example.

Verilion, hello! :) Yes, I've been away a long time! Too long away from the keyboard? Yes, the islands are great. I want one of my own! Great news re the new friend for Endelyn. :)

Matt,
Wow, a week in Greece after writing the book! The Cyclades would be the PERFECT place for the kind of relaxation/nothingness that we obviously both like. Good luck with the new book. My best vibes go out to you!

Jessica,
Yes, the bluest blue is everywhere and it creates nothing but peace and quiet ... except when the noisy tourists are about! And the food? Oh dear, I didn't manage to lose any weight. What went wrong? I thought greek food was good for diets! :)

Good god seamus, the floor underneath my computer is awash with saliva. What splendid photos-BUT...how much more splendid to have you back. You had me worried there for a while.

Roberta, thanks, good to be back. :) I had a drink for you while I was there! :)

LMN,
Yes, it's nice to be back in the loop. I feel like I've missed so much ... your site for one has lots of great stuff I need to feast on. That video is STUNNING!
There are so many photos I could put up, but 500 may just be a little bit overboard, no? :)

Greece is so photogenic - I really like your photos and the way you have juxtaposed them. The arrangement of dishes somehow resembling the jumble of buildings on the hillside and the hanging dresses echoing the white cliff architecture. My lion, Homer roars with Greek approval!

Looks so incredibly beautiful.
Santorini is on my list of places I wish to go before I die. (Venice is of course on the list too)
I am green with envy over all that white and blue.
