I had some short stories, poems and photographs to share ... and so here I am

Adopt A Shameless Lion !

All 48 lions have now been adopted! All 48 lions have now been adopted! All 48 lions have now been adopted! All 48 lions have now been adopted! All 48 lions have now been adopted! All 48 lions have now been adopted!

I am so happy with the response to this lion adoption/writing circle project. There are now 48 of us!!

Please remember to link to the separate blog dedicated to the circle when you post your lions in your sidebars, so everyone can benefit from the networking. See excellent examples of lions in sidebars at Chick With A Quill, Doors Left Open, Skint Writer and A Wanderer in Paris, among others. Everyone will benefit from the linking up that this circle will offer, but bread trails have to be left. Posting your lion in the sidebar will also make him more visible, and he won't drop away buried among regular posts. The poems/prose are excellent so far ... don't forget there's a 48 word limit though. A roar a day keeps the writer's block at bay! Keep reading below for details on how you can adopt a lion and join the circle. I am keeping this post at the top of my blog for the timebeing, so sorry that normal posts are on hold for a bit.

WHAT IS THIS ?

This is an exciting opportunity, which aims to bring a lion's prestige and pride to some lucky creative writing and books blogs!

WHAT ?

The stars of my "Lions of Lyon" series are looking for permanent homes in the blogosphere, with the aim of creating an exciting new writing circle. These lions are wanting to work their magic in your writing, on your blogs, to bring you good luck.

WHO ?

The 48 lions in my series are lining up to be attributed to various writing blogs, to create The Shameless Lions Writing Circle. Places are limited, so you need to be in quick. Participating blogs must have creative writing/fiction/poetry/literature as one of their main focal points. Avid readers/books blogs are also welcome.

HOW ?

The adoption of a lion will require you to feature its photograph in the sidebar of your blog, accompanied by your own original poem or piece of prose (no more than 48 words) inspired by the lion. You will be encouraged to use a title or caption that says: "A member of The Shameless Lions Writing Circle ". You will also be encouraged to provide a link to A BLOG DEDICATED TO THE PROJECT. The newly created site will contain the photographs of all the adopted lions, the accompanying poems/pieces of prose, as well as the details and links of the members. See my sidebar on the right for an example of how your lion can be featured.

WHY ?

Your very own lion will be like your mascot, representing the power and strength you need in your writing. The other lions will be there to "roar" for you and provide strength in numbers. You will be free to find a name for your lion; it might be something close to your own blogging name or something else entirely. Once all the lions are settled into their new homes a contest will be organised to choose the top five lions in terms of their design and the best accompanying poem or piece of prose. It will also be more interesting for the contest to have a real person behind each lion.

WHERE ?

Please check out the list of Shameless Lions HERE and choose which one you would like to adopt. Lions already attributed will have "adopted" shown beside the number. Try to choose a lion that suits you, that you would be proud to have on your blog. You will need to get your choice in quickly as it will be a case of first in, first served.

So, what are you waiting for? Become part of The Shameless Lions Writing Circle, which can only bring positive things your way. Tap into the power of the king of the jungle! Spread the word on your own blogs about this possibility to adopt a shameless lion!

Please indicate your choice of lion here in the comments section or email me at: seak@caramail.com
Once I have said OK to your choice you will be able to download the photo from HERE (the enlarged version of the photo needs to be saved to your computer).

Don't be shy, let a lion roar about your writing!

And you pick the one week where I'm actually working FIVE WHOLE days and I really have some work to do. BLgffyffhhnm, mmeee (that is an irate lion with it's paws on its mouth while it's swearing!)

S. Kearney said...

Good time to get a nice relaxing lion. :) Just let me know which one you want, when you get the chance! :) The field is wide open, so the groovy ones are all available.

The Moon Topples said...

Shamu: I choose #25, the shaggy one. It'll be a few days before I can write something for him, though. Is that OK?

S. Kearney said...

Moon, no worries. 25 is yours! I will post your details on the circle page. Any of your other regulars up for joining this exercise?

S. Kearney said...

Just to let you all know that lion 21 has been adopted by LMN at failed painter. She left a comment on the site dedicated to the circle. Get in quick with your adoption requests!

Unknown said...

#29 please, Mr Shameless. I will look after him.

S. Kearney said...

Oh, Minx, I was wondering which one you might choose, and I was almost spot on! Good choice. 29 is yours. He needs lots of red beans and noodles .... NO MEAT! He also likes to be read to before he falls asleep, but otherwise he's no bother! :)

Unknown said...

I was a bit torn between twenty seven, twenty, fifteen, thirteen and Miss Muffin. Really, I really do want Miss Muffin, she's so cute in that picture and now I can't decide between ... OK 15. Can I have 15 please. Now what was it I have to do?

S. Kearney said...

V,
15 is yours. Nice choice! :)
Miss Muffin de Champagnier (she comes from a scruffy village called Champagnier near Grenoble) has been roaring all day trying to prove she qualifies ... but, no, sadly. Now, once you've posted the pic to your blog you must write up a poem or piece of prose inspired by your lion, no more than 48 words. I will put up a link you your site with all your details.
Have a roaring time with your new lion, who you also must name! :)

S. Kearney said...

Just to let you all know that Lion 16 has been adopted by P at Outside the Lines, a regular and loyal reader of this blog who contacted me by email.

Anonymous said...

please let me have no.1? i'll work with it and do my best. :)

S. Kearney said...

Canterbury,
What a beautiful choice ... one of my top favourites! I hand him over to your care ... he likes to listen to poetry early in the morning and needs his neck rubbed at least four times a day. He is also on a fruit only diet! :) I look forward to reading your poem inspired by this lion. :)

Unknown said...

OK Seamus I'm being a bit thick here, but I need to name my lion, write 48 words and what's this dedication business? Sorry... I'm having a crazy week and the words are going in, but it's getting all mixed up in there. I'm going to go and find him a name now.

Anonymous said...

thanks Seamus, for giving my no.1 choice! will work on the name and the prose/poem in the next few days.

not sure if you've done this...but i think i just tagged you.

Anonymous said...

and thanks for the lovely comments you've made about me and my blog. truly appreciate it.

Unknown said...

Can I please take Lion # 5 back to Novapulse? Pretty please? Even though I'm no longer on Earth or blogging. I promise I will look after the lion - in fact, I am sure the lion will go down in Novapulsian history - so will you...

S. Kearney said...

Atyllah,
What? No longer blogging? I'm not in the loop here ... I must investigate. Of course I would like you to adopt a lion, but you will still have some kind of blog presence, no? Will the lion have pride of place in a sidebar, with a poem, in the blogosphere? Is the Atyllah site staying up? Also, what will I write for your bio on the writers circle page. Mmmmmm. Do let me know.

Unknown said...

The Chicken has flown the coop, I'm afraid, you'll have to check out the last post. However, I am still watching... beadily, from afar...
The site will stay up for the time being until I decide what I'm doing - I may blog as "some other person" - who knows, change is, after all, the only constant - what besides, what's the good of having a mind if you can't change it...

But perhaps it's not fair to take a beautiful Lyon Lion back to Novapulse and ask him to become a Novalion (Minx's description) - he might get lonely, poor thing - and then Granny might have to eat him... But for what it's worth, I do love LyonLion # 5 - just gorgeous! :-)

S. Kearney said...

I'm sorry to hear you've done your last Atyllah !!!! Your blog has been such fun! :) But I hope you decide to create something else if this one has come to an end. You are welcome to adopt Lion 5 ... put him on your current blog, if it stays up for a while, and take him with you to your new home when it's created - and I really hope you do create another blog! Can I say that Lion 5 is adopted then, taking pride of place on your "farewell" blog, while waiting to join you somewhere else? :) It seems so right that you do own this lion! Especially as you've been such a big part of our little community here! :)

Roberta said...

Dear Mr. Shameless,

May I please have Lion #8? I enjoy the fact that he comes with his own map...in case I get lost.

S. Kearney said...

Roberta,
It's an absolute pleasure to have you adopt one of the lions ... very nice choice too! :) Lion 8 is hereby in your care. I will also add your details to the blog dedicated to the writing circle.

Roberta said...

I've named him Blue. Right now, he's sitting next to me purring. Later we'll go for a walk and I'm going to teach him to climb a tree.

S. Kearney said...

He will also become very useful for your writing, Roberta. Let him sit beside you as you tap ... his strength will empower you. Blue is a perfect name. A lion of the world. A bio on you and your site will be added to the circle blog later today. Enjoy!

Unknown said...

Oooh, oooh, oooh! Can I really have Novalion Number 5! Time for a Chicken Dance! Thank you soooo much! I am very privileged! Your lion will take pride of place in the very final posting on my blog and will remain there indefinitely - and will then move with me, wherever I go ;-)...

The lion has told me that his name is Kashgar - Lion of Many Worlds, Paths and Places (did you know that Kashgar means variegated houses,?

Kashgar has also said that he will help me write his poem. He will, I feel sure, become another of my muses and I hope that he will adapt to life in Novapulse (mind you, he tells me he's already once visited Andromeda and has even conversed with Aunt Aggie in the Other Dimension. He's one helluva lion, I tell you!

L.M.Noonan said...

Which lion are you adopting Seamus?

S. Kearney said...

Atyllah,
Yesssss!! Kashgar. I love it! :) I know you will take care of him, and he of you! Excellent match. Your details are going up on the circle blog as we speak! We look forward to your next blog, and we're glad you'll at least be in our writing circle in the meantime.

LMN,
I have grabbed number 6, who is now called Eugene. I thought I'd better get in quick myself, before all my favourites leave their tamer! :) I'm sad but happy to see them go to nice homes. But they will still be around with the circle, so there are only good things ahead! :)

Unknown said...

Just to let you know, poem and pic are posted - with lots of shameless promotion for you :-) Thanks again, Seamus.

S. Kearney said...

Excellent Atyllah, will check it out and post your poem to the main blog for the circle! Glad to get you before you flew the coop!

S. Kearney said...

Congratulations also to Dedepthi in India, who has just adopted Lion 4 by email. Details up soon on the writing circle's blog.

exskindiver said...

hi s,
was hoping i could adopt #3.
:)

S. Kearney said...

exskindiver,
Yes! nice to have two lions in the family! I hereby announce that you have successfully adopted lion 3.
I look forward to your poem/prose about your lion and seeing him taking his place on your blog. Your details will be added to the writing circle blog later today. :)

Vesper said...

Pretty please, may I have lion No. 18 to call my own?
I'm a newborn to the blogosphere, but I have, oh, so deeply, writing on my mind.

S. Kearney said...

Vesper,
Welcome! Yes, as someone with a blog so clearly devoted to the writing passion, and I see the odd poem, welcome to the circle. Lion 18 is hereby officially declared free to move into your place. This one is a fruitarian! He also likes cup cakes. Your details will be added to the circle page tomorrow. I look forward to your poem/prose and seeing your new big cat in the sidebar. :)

Lee said...

Hi Shameless, I just have to participate, because my surname literally means 'lion' - and because this is such a terrific idea. I'm torn, however, between numbers 7 & 12 - 7 because I like the 'all-world view of blogging' and that particular lion's aestheic appeal, but 12 because that's the way writing often feels to me. Can you reserve both and give me a day to make a choice?

S. Kearney said...

Hi Lee, no problem, both lions are reserved until you make your choice. I had the same problem when choosing mine. It really is difficult. Keep me posted. And welcome to the circle:)

S. Kearney said...

Everyone with a lion can check Vesper's site for another example of how your lion can be featured in your sidebar. Choose a photo window (with a title) and then a link window (without a title). You can also put a text of your lion's name as a caption under the photo.
Your poem or prose (when it's ready) can be added as a text window between the two. :)

Unknown said...

I'm in - I'm in! Can I have Lion 27 please???

S. Kearney said...

Cailleach,
Excellent. :) I hereby announce that your adoption of lion 27 has been approved with delight! Your details will be added later today to the circle blog. I look forward to your poem or prose to go with your lion and learning what name you choose. This one likes pancakes and champagne!

Unknown said...

Yummy - thanks Shamie

Unknown said...

named too now, Raga.

S. Kearney said...

Hello all, just to let you know that Frank at Books Inq has just adopted too - lion 20.

Cailleach, great, Raga, to be added to the circle site shortly. :) Welcome. Have some bubbly for me too! :)

Hi Seamus,
Could I please have Lion No.28?
will only be able to check back tomorrow?
Please...please...please... :-)

Anonymous said...

Not sure if I wrote my previous comment in the right place - but please could I have No 22. I'd call him Caradoc and have a little post about him waiting in drafts...

Unknown said...

Great name, Clare. Caradoc Strong Arm?

Anonymous said...

Great idea Shameless, can I apply to adopt no 17 - Dandy please

S. Kearney said...

Oh, great, luckily everyone chose different lions that are available!

Derek, yes, I hereby announce that lion 23 is now in your care. Your details will go up soon on the circle blog. Your site looks very interesting and we look forward to discovering it ... with lots of nice poetry! :) Please see examples of how your lion can be featured in your sidebar - mine or Doors Left Open. This lion is a sweet tooth - chocolate and toffees galore!

Susan, great, welcome to the circle! :) I hereby officially announce that you have adopted lion 28. This one enjoys spa baths and grapes with white wine.

Clare, welcome, excellent choice! I hereby announce that you are the new owner of lion 22. Super name. This one is partial to strawberries and cream and likes to waltz!

and Skint, hello, welcome, long time no hear from, yes yes yes, lion 17 is keen to move in with you! I therefore now officially you the owner of lion 17. This one is into James Bond films and likes eating Chinese food! :)

The details of all the new members will be added to the circle blog later today.
I look forward to learning the names you have chosen and reading all of the poems or pieces of prose inspired by your lion (max 48 words). Also, I look forward to seeing your lion installed proudly in your sidebars with a link to the circle blog, so others can connect with the rest of the circle.

Enjoy your lions.

Lee said...

Oh dear, my comment seems to have been swallowed by a lion's roar. 12, please. And I agree about the name Caradoc that Clare's chosen. I'll keep mine nameless, at least for the time being, because I need to do something to pacify my contrarian nature.

S. Kearney said...

Lee, welcome! Lion 12 is hereby handed over to your care. I'm sure he will let you know what hi name is when the time is right. It's a pleasure to have you join the writing circle. :)

So, you other lion hunters, that means that lion seven is now available for adoption!

Anonymous said...

Thank you, Shameless! I have given Caradoc a juicy bit of wildebeast and he declares himself very happy in his new home.

Michelle | Bleeding Espresso said...

Oh my, I'm so behind! I want to be a part of this too...may I still adopt number 14? I rather enjoy how he's wearing his heart on his sleeve :)

Lee said...

Ooh..some of the new ones are beauties. I wonder if we're allowed a second lion for a second blog?!

S. Kearney said...

Sognatrice,
Yes, we would love you to adopt a lion and join the writing circle. I hereby confirm that lion 14 is now in your custody. See examples of other blogs for how to feature the lion and I will add your details to the dedicated writing circle blog pronto! :) Good to have you on board!

Lee, Yes, there are some real gems in amongst the new batch! Definitely, if there are still lions without homes after a little while, I will allow lions to go to the second blogs of current members. I think we should wait a wee bit though, to make sure we're not depriving people of owning their own.

Michelle | Bleeding Espresso said...

Thank you much sir! Looking forward to lioning out the post :)

Meloney Lemon said...

Could you spare me no.38?
It would be going to a good home. I quite like the air of antiquity
this lion has. At first it reminded me of a Greek urn - then I noticed the decorations look aboriginal( which is just as cool).
I can tell this lion is not tame.

I will name it Homer, should it be allowed to pounce over to my blog.

Both Greek and Simpson.

S. Kearney said...

Oh ML, nice choice! If I were able to choose two! :) It would be an absolute honour to have you on board in he circle ML. Thus, I hereby pronounce you the new adoptive parent of lion 38! Well done. I know Homer is going to be going to a nice blog! :) I will add your details to the circle page soonest ML. Welcome again! :)

Thy said...

my comment died! may i have forty?

S. Kearney said...

Me, hello and welcome ... yes! It would be a pleasure to have you join the writing circle. I therefore hereby declare that you are now the proud owner of lion 40! :) I look forward to seeing your poem or prose and seeing your lion taking pride of place in the sidebar of your blog. Your details will go onto the blog dedicated to the writing circle shortly. Nice choice for the lion! Good to have you on board! :)

The Wandering Author said...

Could I please adopt number 32? The Last Lion - I'm writing his story now.

The Wandering Author said...

BTW, if you allow my adoption, he's already told me his name is His Majesty Arthur Winston. (The lion is the King of Beasts; it is entirely proper for him to have a title.)

For the curious, his name stands for two men who fought in doomed (or so it seemed) causes. Arthur, High King of Britain, who fell, but whose efforts undoubtedly softened and civilised the Saxon influence on Celtic Britain, and Winston Churchill, who stood against the darkest evil the world has yet known, and, miraculously, won.

S. Kearney said...

Hello Wandering Author,
Yes, of course! :) Lion 32 is hereby declared to be adopted by you. I love his name and the story behind him. I will add your details to the circle page soon.

apprentice said...

Could I have lion 20 please?

S. Kearney said...

Oops, sorry Apprentice, but lion 20 has already been adopted by Frank at Books Inq. Look at the lions list again and see if there's another one that takes your fancy. :) Sorry about that.

The Moon Topples said...

Shameless: I have done thy fell bidding and completed the required tasks.

I've also left you a surprise in the image I put into my sidebar. Keep looking until it becomes clear...

The Wandering Author said...

Thanks! I've got His Majesty Arthur Winston in my sidebar, and a post with slightly more detail as well.

Suzan Abrams, email: suzanabrams@live.co.uk said...

No.28 sounds sensuous & dangerous, Seamus.
Perfect & up my street.
Please give me a few days to get him up on my blog as I've been ill.

S. Kearney said...

Maht, excellent, I'll go and check it out soonest. Wonderful stuff.

Wandering Author,
I really like his name ... very regal. I'm off to look at the post. Your details are being added soon.

Susan,
Yes, very nice choice of lion. I look forward to seeing what you do with him! :)

Seamus -

I would like to adopt #46. I am bit confused how to get everything you're requesting onto my blog page... http://image-verse.com but I have a son who helps me with the technical aspects of my blog, such as html code writing -- togehter we can figure it out.

NOTE: is there one place I can go to see the list of requirements all together.

Nice idea here -- should be fun! ;)

S. Kearney said...

Hello Rob, I am happy to say that lion 46 is now officially adopted by you. Welcome! :) Your listing will go up on the circle blog soon.

L.M.Noonan said...

I don't think I've ever seen a blog post with so many comments. This is smokin!
Those last positions should fill pretty soon and then you'll need to get that chair and whip out.

Debi said...

I can bear it no longer. In spite of all my attempts at discipline, I've bottled out, or chickened in or something ...

I think there's just one left. If so, would it like to come home with me? At least I won't have to decide which one to have ... it reminds me of myself when all the other kids were getting chosen for games and I was the last one left. *sob*

S. Kearney said...

Oh, Debi!! Excellent. I am so pleased!! I had really hoped you would change your mind ... our circle wouldn't have been the same without you! :) Now, the truth is there are four lions left to adopt ... either you can choose one yourself from the list at Shameless Lions, or I can choose the one that I think would be happy at your place. What do you think? The other option is to let Minx choose one for you!

Debi said...

Have you lost your mind??? I'm debating with First Born right now ...

Debi said...

Right! It's no 43.

Now we're brainstorming names. So far we've come up with Zinadine (but we can't even spell it) and Fluffy - as well as a few that are unmentionable.

Can I sit on it for a while (not literally though possible literaryly) and think about it?

Names are so important and we've only just met.

S. Kearney said...

Wonderful, Debi. Lion 43 it is! He is now in your care. I am so pleased! :) Please do take your time with a name and poem/piece of prose ... there is no mad rush .. not yet! We're so thrilled to have you join us. :)

Dewey said...

May I adopt lion number 31? I think he should be named Louis because he has French writing under him, so he needs a French name. And Louis rhymes with Dewey.

Would I be the only books blogger? I do also write (mostly poetry, but the occasional fiction) but not in this blog.

S. Kearney said...

Hello Dewey,
Yes, lion 31 is eager for a home and yours looks great! Books galore! Louis will be a perfect name for him. So, without further ado, lion 31 is now in your care. Welcome to the circle. Your listing will go up soon on the circle blog.

Dewey said...

Thanks! He'll move into my blog as soon as I come up with something to write about him.

Right. He's called Shimshon, which is the Hebrew version of Samson. I printed him out and we stared at him en famille until his name leapt out at us in the same way as it does for a fictional character.

I'm rushing (for a change) so will do post now but may take me a bit longer to suss out how to get the pic and words into sidebar.

Seamus,

I will take Mr. Money Lion if no one wants him, but I suck at formatting and I' trying to figure out my template as how to put that picture in. Will work on it though. It's one of the reasons I've hesitated for so long.

I hope he's not taken because I've already named him.

Jessica!! Yes!!! :) I am so thrilled that you are the adopter of the last lion! :) Yippeee. It couldn't have gone to a more perfect place. Excellent. I really had hoped you would join the writing circle ... you are very welcome! :) I wanted to point the members to your superb blog. Great. So, without further ado, the remaining lion is now in your care ... the money lion, which may mean lots of it is coming your way?? :)

O I am glad! Joining has been on my mind and I finally figured out how to install him and so he's there. I also got the little writing piece that's so sad, about being the last chosen lion, so he'll be famous now.

Goody. Talk soon.

I came to claim the last lion after just finishing a poem about him, but I see he has already been adopted. I guess I'm sad.

Colleen, I am so sorry you missed out. He was up for a day or two unclaimed as well! :) Never mind. Why not post your poem under the listing for the lion, as a tribute to the one that just got away? It would be a shame not to see the poem. We can post it as well in the general comments box for latest news on the writing circle. The other exciting development on the circle blog is that there will be a "friends of the writing circle" directory added to the sidebar of the circle site. It would be great to have you added there. Please keep in touch and check out the rest of the listings on the writing circle blog. Who knows, the club may also grow in the future if the members are in agreement. :)
