I had some short stories, poems and photographs to share ... and so here I am

The Diva, The Piano Player And Abba !

Thanks to everyone who's asked; yes, the play is going really well. I have seen it three times now and there is great feedback! Here are some pictures, which you can click to enlarge.

Am I the only one who thinks she looks like the blonde Abba singer?
I was very happy with how my music came across and how the actors sang the songs I wrote. It was strange to sit back and see it all come together, to hear the piano music I recorded become an integral part of the comedy.

I wrote three main songs for the show, which is about an old star who wants to make a comeback with the help of her former pianist/songwriter. I also recorded a series of transition pieces for the scene changes. There are many funny moments when the pair attempt to reinvent the diva's banal life for a biography. The performance from the actors is superb. They have to act, dance and sing, and they make it look so easy!

For those who are interested, I will be filming one of the last performances of the show this week and I plan to put together a little video with some of the highlights of the songs.

So, yes, it's been a great experience and I look forward to doing some more stuff with my music in the future. Speaking of the theatre, I have actually written a play (without music), which has been translated into French and which I hope will make it to the stage. But that's another story ...

Oh Seamus...how awesome it all sounds!
The platinum blonde shade and style of the singer's hair is shaped to a perfect tee...I agree with the exception that Agnetha wore a softer, more pensive expression. But it's very close. definitely.
But the champagne?? You didn't say...
:-)

Dear Shameless, I’m so jealous of your energy. Is Muffin getting the attention all oriental cats demand? The photos are good… are the actors French or expats like yourself?

Hi Jason,
Thanks. Amazing but also a bit stressful. Now I can relax! :)

Jessica,
Merci beaucoup! La musique est une forme de nourriture pour mon âme!

Susan,
Yes, not completely Abba, but getting close. It was all great fun and it's a shame it'll come to an end. Oh, yes, nice champagne on the first night. Teeheehee. I will miss the champagne on the last night though; I will be in Paris, for my sins! :) What a terrible place to have to spend a weekend! :)

and LMN,
Yes, Muffin helped me with the music, making noise as I was trying to record! :) She also inspires me in many other ways, especially when I decide to doze instead of write! I was only thinking the other day that I need to stop being so lazy, so it's funny you say you admire my energy. I waste many hours in my days, hours that I should spend writing or creating! Oh well, every boat reaches the shore in its own time!
And the actors are very very French! The odd line in the play is in English, but it's only to get a laugh. It was strange writing songs with French words, especially in terms of getting the rhythm right!

Seamus, I've just spotted this. :-)

Can you write a song for me? I've got the title on the ready. It's called
Killing Me Softly with his Blog

Ha-Ha!

Susan, that is incredible! I had thought of using that title for the current post (except 'song' at the end)!! That is spooky!! :)

I've booked tickets for Saturday night. We get in too late on Friday! I'd ask for directions, but seeing as I don't actually know where I'm staying that could be a bit complicated. And I won't take offense at your Paris comment, I can see it's tongue in cheek!

Oh, V, that is wonderful news ... I will send you the web address for the theatre, which has a map and all. You must go and say hello to the actors after the show, and say you are a fellow blogger of Seamus! I will warn them so they don't look at you blankly! :) I hope you enjoy it. What a shame I won't be there for a small blogmoot! Never mind, the next time! Re Paris, I was trying to be funny (honest), to downplay the fact that I am going to the BEST city in the world! :) I don't want to make people jealous. :)
P.S I will send you some suggestions for your stay in Lyon, the must sees if you like.

Shameless, you really are shameless. Putting us all to shame. Paintings, music, novels, plays, funky facial hair -- you do and have it all.

Congrats on the show. To feel the pride and satisfaction you feel is not a given, of course. I know you know this but when something like that is out of your hands, it could have (so easily) gone wrong. So I know how happy you must feel, how relieved, how pleasantly surprised, how pleased. Congratulations.

GT,
Thank you! The funky facial hair is all shaved off by the way ... too much work to maintain, and I could never be like the Italian cool dude who inspired me! Re the show; yes, pleasure and relief rolled into one! :)

Thanks Saaleha,
The video camera's all charged up, ready to film tonight's performance! :)

Julia,
Thank you. Talk about the glitz! :)

CB,
I just hope the sound quality will be OK for the video. I recorded on Thursday night, but the camera's not top top quality. Hopefully I can get something off it, even just a for a little of the ambiance! :)
