I had some short stories, poems and photographs to share ... and so here I am

The Wonders of Portugal

There's nothing like evolution. There's nothing like taking our blogs to new levels. If you thought this blog was just text and photos, think again!

I've had a bit of fun putting together a video of the best memories of my trip through Portugal over the summer. All you have to do is click the play button (sometimes twice). You can also increase the volume on the console. The music is one of my original piano compositions. What a bonus! Enjoy!

A similar video of New York is in the pipeline!

You were in Portugal in July and August? Cool! :D

I was there the first two weeks of July, and spent part of my time in England, too, to visit a friend in Sheffield. I had hoped to also see a friend from New Zealand who recently went over to London, but, alas, that never came to pass.

If you go here, you can see photos from my trip: G Dean Townshende.

Your photos reminded me very much of my own trip, especially the photos you took in Gaia and Porto. It's a beautiful country, and I'm planning to visit there again this coming Spring. My girlfriend is from Portugal and lives in Porto, thus the reason for my visit.

The music was gorgeous, too.

Wow, you were all over the country! ;)
I really enjoyed your photos, as well as your music. Thanks for sharing the video. :D

Stunning, Shamey, absolutely stunning!

I love Portugal and I've been taking (prefer 'making') photos for over 20 years - I'm gobsmacked by your talent. You've really captured the essence of the country and your music is wonderful.

Thanks!

Your comments are too kind ... feel free to pass on the link or embed it in your own blogs if you want. It's nice to be able to add video to a blog, but don't worry I won't be getting carried away with it. I'll leave video blogging to people at YouTube. But when there is something special ... the odd bit of music or photos from trips, I'll post them here. Has anyone had any problem starting the video? I'm told it's normally quite realiable.

Reliable, that should read. It's Friday!

Had to go back and look at the photo's again - got lost in the music - shamelessly beautiful!

Gosh, that reminds me; I haven't had the piano tuned for absolutely ages! That's what happens when too much is going off in life! The slight out of tune quality - and I mean ever so slight - gives it a honky tonk feel, don't you think?

What a beautiful video. And what brilliant piece of composition to match it. To echo minx, I got lost in the soothing melody, too.

I loved each and every postcard, but remain partial to the ones showcasing edible treats. :P

Thanks for sharing. 'Can't wait to see NY!

GD, you're a lucky man to have a Portuguese girlfriend who lives in Porto. That is some magnificent city! How funny that you're first visit back here in a while is to stumble upon that post! See, you were meant to come back and see that!

Thanks Bhaswati, Debi, Pundy, Minx, Julia, and all who have left nice messages ... it really makes all the editing work worthwhile! I've had lots of people in Portugal sending me messages as well, so I must have done something right in trying to capture the essence of the place in the photos. Someone did ask why there were no photos of me or my partner in the pics ... I have to keep reminding myself that this blog is still anonymous - not an easy thing to remember - but yes, there are lots of people shots that only my inner circle get to see! I'm sure this is the same for fellow bloggers.

No trouble starting vid but it did creak a bit - stopping and starting occasionally ...
