Not that I would have got it! But I love Wilkie Collins. Verilion, I would recommend Armadale (great villainess) or No Name (melodrama about two sisters with no legal standing, great stuff-- a satire on the legal profession) or A Woman in White over the Moonstone. Not that the Moonstone isn't good, it was one of the if not the earliest novel to feature a professional detective, and is often said to be the first crime-fiction novel. It is just that it has been repeated so many times since that it has (for me) kinf of lost a sense of freshness.<BR/>Thanks for the information about Collins, Shameless: I either did not know that or had forgotten.
